currently causing quite a stir on the underground, the jerome hill remix of marshall jeffersons s trax classic lost in the groove is a complete re-interpretation, solid jacking (hard) house music using the original vocal that s cut loud onto the vinyl and worms inside your head and has been doing serious damage in the clubs and festivals last year. now with all licensing and red tape cleared away, it s set for release. dancer boom boom is actually a collaboration between acid legend adonis and sidney winters, with a mix down by house legend frankie knuckles. this sat on the b side of am a dog on trax records and is rare & obscure to say the least, but once the needle touches the groove you know it s a killer. massive kick drums and mysterious organ scales, this one is a mad mad tune ! produced in 1987 (and sounding like nothing else from that year) it s been given a very slight and very respectful re-arrangement by jerome hill, remastered and cut super loud. strictly limited and if the previous titles on the label are anything to go by, this one will sell out equally quick.

repress - erstmalig auf vinyl erscheint die offizielle dubversion zum kultalbum -rasta communication-. die 10 tracks des 1978er originalalbums wurden in jamaika in randy s sowie im channel one studio und in london (chalk fram studio) mit sly & robbie und musikern des soul syndicate aufgenommen. am mischpult saßen dabei clive chin, lloyd mckenzie und sid bucknor, der finale mix wurde von prince jammy in king tubbys studio ausgeführt. die arbeiten des sängers und produzenten keith hudson, auch bekannt als the dark prince of reggae (geboren 1946 in kingston, jamaika - r.i.p. 14.11. 1984 in new york), hatten einen großen einfluss auf die entwicklung des dub.
ethiopian records (born endeguena mulu) is a musician based in addis ababa, ethiopia. mulu first started making music while in high school, experimenting with a wide spectrum of sound palettes. his tastes and influences are as varied as his productions, ranging from traditional ethiopian folk music, to the dub heavy electronics of mala.
the next release on the invariants contains three edits of tracks from the deep. the a side contains a chicago leaning version of middle eastern esotherics and a more techno dub version of the same track. on the flip are black metal synths combined with 90s strings in a live jam recorded slightly in the red. comes with two locked grooves to serve as a vessel for drumless tracks

this four track ep kicks off with cladistic mutation , a sparse underwater soundtrack with only the gentlest suggestion of rhythm, lots of reverb and tiny little details that float by like micro-bacterial debris. m2 is a more beat driven dub track but is still way below the surface: the kicks are smooth and hunched over, the chords are smeared out in all directions and the atmosphere is lo-fi and grainy. on the flip, grain gets even more energetic, with firm techno kick drums setting a stern tempo as all sorts of aqueous details and spacious effec ts peppe r the groove. there s a heavenly nature to the pads and an industrial texture to the percussion that makes this a cerebral but physical affair from start to finish. lastly, neurowaves closes things down in blissfully dubbed out and horizontal fashion, with large sweeping pads, tweaked filters and evocative little details all placing you firmly under water.

12 releases strong already, a:rpia:r has been silent for the last 2 years, since petre inspirescu’s gradina onirica hit the shelves of your favourite record shop. it is now raresh’s turn to release something special and indeed he did. vivaltu is an old gem, a subtle uplifting track driven by a powerful resonator, perfect for that “special moment”. the male mumbling voices provide the track with that extra eclectic feel. this is in fact raresh’s only track on vivaltu ep, the rest are remixes. side b presents a minimal house interpretation remix by none other than chilean legend and friend, ricardo villalobos. the resonator is still here but in come some childish voices to make it all perfect. perfect for the dancefloor. side c brings forward another member of the a:rpia:r family, none other than contemporary wizard petre inspirescu. his take has a very cinematic approach, building and building for 4 minutes before the kick even starts. the rich percussive atmosphere is completed with a brilliant melody reminiscent of his classical experiments. this track is an absolute masterpiece ! aloe varu is the third chosen for this remix pack and indeed he was chosen wise. his stripped down remix spans for 13 minutes and completes the story of a:rpia:r 13.

hotel victoria is the debut ep from two talented editors from poland, holiday 80. holiday 80 inherited a massive collection of wax at a very early age, inciting a deep and lifelong respect for vinyl and the dark grooves. this instilled a profound love not-to-be-contained by a single genre. each song on this palette reflects that diversity and spectrum. from the smooth intro on kto dał, nam deszcz with its easy groove to the boogie-blaze of bez tego i owego. the rolling synth bass and sizzling strings of zabawa w stylu folk are at once dark and light in a tense contrast. as comfortable on the b2 as in the basement, we hear the acidic melodies of teleniedziela.

label boss dodi palese is back on what ever not with a brand new chemtrails ep of 6 tracks including remixes from d’marc cantu (crème organization, m>o>s) & rising techno italian artist chevel (enklav, non series, stroboscopic artefacts). title track results as a sick combination of well randomized drum patterns, synths and abstract layers turned into a bouncing house interpretation by the mighty d’marc cantu. the electric shocks of dodis machines go all the way through ‘storm’ delivering a monster dub track which got also treatment by the eclectic and talented chevel, check his slow tempo doped beats to see what we are talking about. two additional luscious bonus tracks, barium and aluminum, complete the package. dodi palese brings the chemtrail conspiracy theory to the music dimension!
